Jennifer Robinson, nicknamed “Tiger,” began skating when she was 8 years old. By the age of 10, she landed her first axel and at 16 won her first major skating title. This six-time Canadian Champion has become well-known among skating audiences for her fluid and graceful movements, combining artistry with athleticism. With the guidance of choreographer Lori Nichol, Jennifer brought her love of skating to life in performances. Inspired by their work together, Jennifer has begun to do some choreography for young skaters.

In a competitive career that spanned more than 10 years, Jennifer competed in eight World Championships, three times finishing in the top 10. She counts the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City as a personal highlight.

Jennifer has performed with the Elvis Stojko Tour of Champions and Celebration on Ice. She dazzled audiences across Canada during the 21-city Skate the Nation tour. In 2003, she realized one of her skating dreams when she was invited to perform in the HSBC Stars on Ice tour, where she was tapped to recreate a routine ("Blues in the Night”) that Katarina Witt had performed during the U.S. Stars on Ice tour.

Although she spends a great deal of time training and traveling, Jennifer remains very close with her parents, Cliff and Louise, and her brother, Jason. Ice seems to be a theme in her family, as three of her uncles played hockey. One of them, Gaston Gengler, made it to the NHL, winning a Stanley Cup in 1986 with Montreal. Additionally, her brother was drafted in the fifth round of the 1996 NHL entry draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning. After completing his season in England in 2004, he was able to be with her at her final eligible competition, the 2004 World Championships in Dortmund, Germany.

Robinson wed skating coach Shane Dennison on Sept. 21, 2002. She credits him with providing the love and support to remain in the sport until she felt she’d satisfied her goals. Upon announcing the conclusion of her competitive career, Jennifer said she hoped she would be remembered for her tenacity and commitment to her sport. She is now channeling her energies into a thriving pro career as a performer, coach and choreographer.

Robinson is co-hosting a daily TV show called First Local. It’s a general news and lifestyle program for the Barrie, Ontario area. The afternoon tapings allow her time to teach skating in the morning and the producers are allowing her time off when skating performances are on her schedule. She guest hosted a radio program, but declined a weekly gig as it conflicted with her skating performances.

In June 2004, Jennifer completed her first acting role as Michelle Trachtenberg’s skating double in the Walt Disney motion picture Ice Princess, also starring Sex & the City’s Kim Cattrall.

As of late, Robinson has also been getting some diverse off-ice opportunities. In August 2004, she traveled to Zambia to appear in a video for World Vision, an organization that promotes international child sponsorship. Other Canadian celebrities who have appeared in these videos include Jeopardy host Alex Trebek and the rock group Bare Naked Ladies.

Robinson took her second trip with World Vision to Cambodia in October, 2006 where she reported on and viewed first-hand the terrible sex-slave trade industry which plagues this small Southeast Asian country.

On the ice, Jennifer will star in two NBC-TV shows: Skate for the Heart and Country on Ice. Look for Robinson to thrill the audience in Holiday Festival on Ice which will be syndicated for television during the holiday season.

Jennifer recently completed a successful sixth season on the Stars on Ice tour in her home country of Canada and is thrilled to be returning for her third season with the U.S. 2007-08 Smucker's Stars on Ice tour.
