Is LIVE and In COLOR Beginning January, 2008

For more than two decades, Olympic Champion and figure skating icon Scott Hamilton has thrilled audiences of all ages with the Emmy Award winning Smucker’s Stars on Ice. Now in its 22nd year, the upcoming season might be the best yet, as America’s most prestigious figure skating production proudly welcomes Olympic Silver Medalist Sasha Cohen to the tour.  Cohen will headline an all-new Smucker’s Stars on Ice production, which glides into 40 U.S. arenas beginning with a preview performance November 24, 2007, followed by its cross-country tour January 31 – April 12, 2008.

Sasha’s exquisite talents will complement an amazing cast of Olympic and World Champions including 1998 Olympic Champion Ilia Kulik (Russia) and 2002 Olympic Pair Champions Jamie Salé & David Pelletier (Canada), each of whom will appear in 20 cities. World Champion and six-time U.S. National Champion Todd Eldredge; World Champion and two-time Japanese National Ladies Champion Yuka Sato; two-time World Bronze medalist and three-time U.S. National Men’s Champion Michael Weiss; World Bronze medalists and three-time U.S. National Pair Champions Kyoko Ina & John Zimmerman; and six-time Canadian National Ladies Champion Jennifer Robinson will anchor the show in all 40 markets.

Additions to the cast for the 2008 season are three-time World Pair Champions and two-time Olympic Bronze medalists Xue Shen & Hongbo Zhao (China), and two-time World Silver medalists and five-time Canadian National Dance Champions Marie-France Dubreuil & Patrice Lauzon.

True to tradition, the 2008 tour presented an advance preview performance at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid, New York, on Saturday, November 24, 2007.  The annual presentation in Lake Placid will become an ABC Television Network Special hosted by Cohen which will air Sunday, December 30, 2007, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm EST. Additionally, a separate syndicated 60-minute television special of the production will air in all tour markets.

Smucker’s Stars On Ice: LIVE and In Color

This season, Smucker’s Stars on Ice is going “LIVE and In COLOR!” 

“The greatest skaters in the world are coming together to show America why they are the best,” says Hamilton. Co-Creator Jef Billings adds, “Fans will experience the energy, the spontaneity, and audience interaction that come only from being part of a LIVE show. There will be no retakes and no edits. What happens on the ice is for their eyes only -- and you won’t see it all unless you are there!”

Enhanced by a broad spectrum of popular music, intricate lighting, dynamic costumes, cutting-edge choreography and state-of-the-art technology, audiences will be front and center as champion skaters interact and perform as only they can. Each show will be a unique spectacular as fans witness the excitement of their favorite skaters jumping, spinning and flying past their seats.
