Anyone actually bought VIP tickets through the fan club before? There is a form to mail for 2011 tour. It does not even say what day and time the show will be in the city I want tickets for, and there is no means of picking seats. It just asks if I want 150 dollar tickets or 85 dollar tickets. Does it give priority for front row seats? Anyone try this before?

You do take a chance with the dates and cast, but you can order decent seats (center ice) through the fan club. I wouldn't get on ice for every show (it's just way too costly), but I would go for the next price range, and still be pretty close to the ice. We've done that in the past, and have ended up with center ice seats 2-4 rows back.

The 150 will be on-ice (there is only one row) - fan club pre-orders get priority for those over regular pre-orders. The 80 will be lower bowl and fan club seats are usually at or near center ice and again, fan club pre-orders are given priority over regular pre-orders, so you will get better seats. Whether they are enough better to make it worth it to you ... that's up to you.
For me, I have to wait and see what day of the week the show is to know how many tickets to order (I can't take my niece unless it is either during her spring break or on a weekend). Which usually means that pre-ordering at all is not an option. Since I miss the pre-order anyway, I usually wait to see who is in the cast to decide if I want to pop for the extremely expensive on-ice seats.
But, yes, you will likely get better seats than you would otherwise get. Though, it is possible to get really good seats without it - but you need the luck of the draw and/or good timing.

I started using the VIP form 3 years ago. If you can only go on certain nights, then it's not worth the risk. If you are open to any day (as we are), then we LOVE the priority seating. Personally, it is worth it to me and is a traditional birthday or Christmas gift for my niece and her skating daughter.
