On Thursday, May 15th, Stars on Ice kicked off the U.S. leg of its 2025 tour with a high-octane show at Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena—marking the final event on the Kraken’s home ice of the season.
This year’s theme, Rock, blended classic hits with the breathtaking artistry and athleticism of world-class figure skating. The show was headlined by reigning World Champions Ilia Malinin and the dance duo Madison Chock & Evan Bates, along with skating legend Elvis Stojko. Other performers included Isabeau Levito, Amber Glenn, Alysa Liu, Jason Brown, Keegan Messing, and Satoko Miyahara — all preparing for the 2026 World Championships and the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Before a blade even hit the ice, the vibe was set with Stars FM – 6.0, a fictional radio station hosted by the charismatic DJ “The Iceman.” The radio concept continued throughout the evening with seamless transitions, energetic group numbers, and a playlist packed with iconic rock anthems—including a tribute to Seattle’s own grunge roots with songs from Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Temple of the Dog.
Highlights from the Show:
Elvis Stojko delivered a powerhouse medley of rock hits, including “Here I Go Again” by White Snake, “In The Air Tonight” by Phil Collins, “Back in Black” by AC/DC, “We Will Rock You” by Queen, and “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC. His commanding stage presence, complete with a mic stand prop, proved the theme was tailor-made for him.
One of the night’s most electrifying moments was a group performance to Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” The ensemble wore flannel-inspired costumes and fans in the audience organically turned on the their cell phone lights and held in the air during the song. It mirrored how fans interact with the opening of Kraken home games and created a magical shared experience.
The finale involved the cast of skaters performing as various rock icons such as: Ilia Malinin as Axl Rose, Jason Brown as David Bowie, Amber Glenn as Stevie Nicks, Satoko Miyahara as Cher, Elvis Stojko as Twisted Sister, Isabeau Levito as Alanis Morissette, Alysa Liu as Janis Joplin, Evan Bates as Mick Jagger, Madison Chock as Joan Jett and Keegan Messing as Bruce Springsteen. It was a joyful, playful celebration of music history that capped off the night on a high note.
Stars on Ice nailed the fusion of rock music and figure skating, creating an unforgettable show that engaged both longtime fans and newcomers. If the tour comes to a city near you, it’s a must-see.
