Biography

2022 Olympic Medalists and World Champions Alexa Knierim and Brandon Frazier began their partnership in March, 2020.

Knierim started skating at age 7. She previously skated with her husband Chris Knierim with whom she won three U.S. titles (2015, ’18, ’20) and an Olympic Team Event bronze medal in 2018. She also skated with Ivan Dimitrov (2011-12). Alexa was previously coached by Dalilah Sappenfield (2011-2018), Vadim Naumov and Evgenia Shishkova (2009-11), Maria Jezak-Athey (2008-09), Trish Cazeau Brown and Sergei Telenkov (1998-2008).

Frazier began figure skating at age 11 after roller skating for six years. He competed with Mandy Garza from 2009-11, winning the novice bronze medal at the 2010 U.S. Championships. He previously skated with Haven Denney with whom he won the U.S. pairs title in 2017 and a World Junior title in 2013. Brandon was previously coached by Ingo Stauer (2014-15), John Zimmerman and Silvia Fontana (2011-20).

At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games, Knierim and Frazier helped bring home the Olympic Silver Medal for Team USA in the Team Event. Adding to their medal success, Alexa and Brandon won Gold at the 2022 World Championships in Montpellier, France. Skating two flawless performances, Knierim and Frazier are the first U.S.pair team to win the world title since 1979.

Alexa and Brandon had a successful Grand Prix season in 2022 by winning Gold at both of their events. They were the first U.S. Team to ever win a medal at a Grand Prix Final, taking home the Silver Medal in Torino, Italy.

The 2023 competition season started off in January with the U.S National Championships in San Jose, CA.  Alexa and Brandon were determined to win their second national title and that is just what they did.  Recording the highest score by any pair team at a U.S. Nationals, Alexa and Brandon are now two-time U.S. Pair Champions.

Alexa and Brandon are looking forward to touring Canada and the U.S. in the North American Stars on Ice tour.
