Biography

Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko, have been skating together since April 2014, forming a long-standing partnership that has developed into one of the most consistent teams in U.S. ice dancing.

On the competitive stage, Carreira and Ponomarenko have built an impressive resume. They represented the United States at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, marking a major milestone in their careers. Having competed at four World Championships (finishing in the top 10 each appearance), they have collected multiple medals at the U.S. National Championships, Four Continent Championships, Grand Prix Series, and World Junior Championships.

Carreira began skating at three years old, inspired by her mother, who was a skating coach. Born in Montreal, QB, Canada, and a native French speaker, Carreira received her American citizenship in December 2025, enabling her to be eligible to compete for the United States at the 2026 Olympics in Milan. Outside of skating, she enjoys reading, drawing, and spending time with her pets.

Ponomarenko started skating at age five, driven by a love of speed on the ice. Skating runs in his family - his parents, Marina Klimova and Sergei Ponomarenko, are legendary ice dancers and the only team to win Olympic medals of every color (bronze in 1984, silver in 1988, and gold in 1992). His hobbies include hockey, cooking, and music production.
