Navarro began skating at age 3 because her mom teaches skating ... Participated in the Basic Skills Program from 1984-88 ... Is the middle of five children ... Father, John, is a real estate agent and mother, Lisa, is an ice skating choreographer ... John is a karate guru who has his eighth-degree black belt ... Lisa competed nationally as a pairs skater, then toured in shows, skating with her partner for a total of 27 years ... Younger brother plays baseball for Laney College in Oakland, Calif. ... Kim skated with Robert Shmalo from 1999-2003 ... Graduated cum laude from Columbia University in May 2004 with a major in English and a minor in dance ...
