Maxim Naumov began skating at age 5 and also competed in gymnastics during his first four years skating.  Working his way up through the junior ranks of competitive figure skating, he was ultimately crowned U.S. Junior Champion in 2020, followed by a fifth-place finish at the 2020 World Junior Championships. Maxim began competing at the senior level in 2021, finishing just off the podium in fourth place at the 2023, 2024 and 2025 U.S. Championships.

A graduate of Simsbury High School in 2019, Maxim trains at The Skating Club of Boston where he was coached by his parents Vadim Naumov and Evgenia Shishkova, 1994 World Pair Champions from Russian, until their tragic passing in a plane crash in January 2025.
